Scott Cohen was born on December 19th, 1964, in the Bronx district of New York. Scott's father was a Jazz musician by the name of Jack Cohen, his mother's name is Leatrice. Having a father as a musician, Scott was encouraged musically from an early age, and learnt to play the piano; his ambition was to become a musician, and he remains a talented pianist.
Scott studied at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Whilst taking a course in clowning, events subsequently led to the start of his acting career. Scott continued to study acting, spending time working for a theatre company, and also joined the Actor's Studio. He also undertook a variety of more pedestrian jobs while waiting for his break. He was a substitute teacher, a waiter, a messenger, photographer's assistant and a 'toy' demonstrator.
In 1989 Scott married the screen writer Anastasia Traina, and they have one child.
Then, in 1990, Scott was offered a role in Adrian Lynne's 'Jacobs Ladder' playing the part of a Doctor. Another breakthrough role was that of Bernardito in the 'Mambo King's'.
Scott continued to work fairly prolifically until he gained real notoriety playing the part of 'Wolf' in NBC's 'The 10th Kingdom'. Though this mini series didn't do as well in the ratings as was hoped, it's popularity blossomed across the Internet, leading to the creation of a plethora of fansites dedicated to Scott himself and the series. It is to be hoped that this Internet popularity and the subsequent pressure on the Studio will bring about the long hoped for sequel.
Other very popular TV roles include appearing in 'GOTTI' and 'Gia'. Scott has also made regular appearances in 'NYPD Blue', 'Law and Order', and the 'Gilmore Girls'.
